Frequently asked questions

What hours do you take call-outs?

We take call-outs from 6am to 6pm, seven days a week. You can contact us outside those hours by phone or WhatsApp and we'll respond as soon as possible, but out-of-hours attendance is subject to availability.

Which areas do you cover?

We're based in Derby and cover the East Midlands, including Nottingham, Leicester, Burton upon Trent, Loughborough, Ilkeston, Belper, Swadlincote and surrounding villages. Larger projects further afield are considered by arrangement.

Are you insured and certified?

Yes. We hold public liability insurance. Our electrician holds ECS cards as an Installation Electrician (JIB Site Technician grade) and Electrical Site Manager, with Level 4 Design & Verification and Level 3 Inspection and Testing qualifications. Both the company and the engineer are F-Gas certified (FGASREGISTER company certificate FGAS2004172), which is a legal requirement for installing and servicing air conditioning that contains refrigerant. Be Cool UK is a trading name of J Dexter Electrical Services Ltd, established in 2014.

My electrics keep tripping. What should I do?

Leave the tripped circuit off and give us a call. Repeatedly resetting a breaker or RCD can hide a fault rather than fix it. If you notice burning smells, scorch marks or hot sockets, switch off at the main switch if it is safe to do so, and call us straight away.

Do you do EICRs and landlord certificates?

Yes. We carry out Electrical Installation Condition Reports for landlords, homeowners and businesses, and can quote for any remedial work the report needs. See EICR details.

Can air conditioning heat my home as well as cool it?

Yes. Modern split systems such as Mitsubishi Electric units are air-to-air heat pumps that heat and cool efficiently, giving around 4 to 5 units of heat per unit of electricity. See how running costs compare. We'll recommend the right unit for your room size and how you plan to use it, and we won't oversell. If one unit will do the job, we'll say so.

How often should air conditioning be serviced?

We generally recommend a service once a year to keep the system efficient and hygienic. Systems that run heavily, such as in shops and offices, may benefit from more frequent servicing. See our servicing details.

How do I get a quote?

Call or WhatsApp 07971 978721, or send an enquiry with a few details about the job and your postcode. For air conditioning, we'll arrange a survey so the quote is based on your actual space.
